…Deanne Loonin, an attorney with the National Consumer Law Center, said that, by law, for-profit schools must allow you to withdraw if you ask.
The law center advises attorneys who work with low- to mid-income clients and has issued reports on both proprietary schools and student borrowers. Students’ loans should be canceled if they didn’t attend classes, Loonin said. Depending on the policies of the school and state law, though, students may be responsible for some or all of their loan if they withdraw too late, she said…
